Despite the fact that lately everyone says that World of Warcraft is finally reached its peak and going through a neverending downfall, there has not been any proof to actually support that statement. Well, until now.
Activision Blizzard, the largest U.S. video game publishers announced on Wednesday that it was cutting 600 jobs globally from their internet game development unit, primarily “World of Warcraft”.
The layoffs will not have an effect on the company’s financials this year and have already been included in the earnings forecast.
“Their subscriber base for “World of Warcraft” is getting smaller, so they are adjusting their cost structure for that decline” said Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia.
