Increase in Risk & Reward in Video Games Brings Entertainment Value

Video games used to be just that.  Video games you played alone or with friends hunkered down around the same screen as you watching you progress through the same levels over and over trying to get further than your past exploits.  In todays world, however, some video games have been designed to be more virtual worlds than anything, often with a real-life Risk & Reward system that can result in big payoffs both in-game and in the real world.

Sitting around one day with the itch to gamble, I decided to seek out and try to find the best Party Poker bonus code to try my hand at some poker and maybe make some money.  After a bit of research I realized…why not mix my passion for games WITH my passion for gambling?

Let’s take Entropia Universe for example (formerly Project Entropia).  The game is PC exclusive and is online with other players, and is built around a micropayment business model.  For example, for every $1 USD you put into the game, you get 10 PED (in-game currency) in return.  There’s plenty of opportunities to do your own thing in the game, from hunting, mining, crafting, to even exploration, owning real-estate, and much more.  Some people literally make a living playing Entropia Universe.  In fact, there have been several in-game sales of a space station and even a large in-game private island that has sold for over $100,000 USD.

The big part of the game, though, is the Risk & Reward system.  Almost like a gambling table at a casino, everything is regulated.  For example, you may invest $10 to get 100 in-game dollars.  Over the course of a few weeks, you may spend that $10 on purchasing equipment to hunt monsters in the game, including buying weapons, ammunition, etc.  If you’re in luck, over the course of those few weeks you might loot some rare items that end up selling for 300 in-game dollars, or $30.  So in the end, you made $20.  On the other hand, you may end up with only 50 in-game dollars worth of materials which would result in a net lost of $5.

This growing trend in interactive games with risk & reward scenarios have become more mainstream than in the past.  If yo’re looking to make a living playing a game, feel free to check them out. If you don’t want to bother and just play old classic you can check out some of the best online games you can find HERE!
