Since launching Xbox LIVE in 2002 Microsoft has added more content and entertainment experiences for its members, while keeping the price the same. It is confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.
However, Microsoft does want to thank their loyal members and give you the opportunity to lock in your current price with an additional discount of $10 making it $40. You could also get it for $40 at various retailers so you can sort of “stock up”.
Perhaps what sucks about this most is that there’s nothing we can do about it; we’re essentially powerless to something we’ve lived with for years!
