Titan Souls likes to beat gamers to the pulp, then laugh in their faces, and then demolish them some more. Titan Souls was released in April of this year for the PS4, PS Vita, and the PC via Steam. It copies the difficulty that we have encountered in the Dark Souls series, but it sets the universe in a 8bit medium. If you’re looking for a nostalgia hit, you should definitely try it out.
You didn’t come here to read a Titan Souls Review, I know this – you’re searching for a Titan Souls guide to teach you how to taste the sweetness of victory; probably even vengeance if you’re like me.
Anyhow, if you’re planning on tackling Titan Souls head-on take a look at our article about what you can unlock in the game, and how – you can hit two birds with one stone.
Enough chit-chat. Let’s get down to business – the business of murdering titans that is!
The Ultimate Titan Souls Guide for Every Boss in the Game, One by One:
Titan Souls Boss Fight #1 Sludgeheart
You may know him as the green blob. He resides in the first room, and his special attacks consist of trying to jump on you in order to crush every bone in your body. You start the fight by shooting at the green blob, but you’ll soon realize that if you hit him, the jelly-looking thing divides itself every time you land an arrow.
The slime balls that are spawned every time you attack Sludgeheart bounce towards your position, so you have to manoeuvre yourself carefully in a circle in order to avoid their menacing advancements. Be patient – something that you’ll hear a lot from me – and carefully strip away Sludgeheart’s numerous slimey layers of demonic goo.
The key to winning the fight is to focus all of your power on the slime ball that has the monster’s heart – shoot to kill once it’s on the floor.
Take your time, but not too much. The oozing blob’s initial divisions can ulteriorly divide themselves by up to four times, after which they are invulnerable to damage. More so, they leave a green trail on the ground that will slow you once you walk over it.
A trick that I found to work fabulously is to get them all in line and shoot your arrow at the slimey balls – it will pass through all of them. Also, when you pull your arrow back it can give damage. It’s a fairly easy Titan Souls battle.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #2 Rolling Eyecube
You start the fight by firing your arrow at the cube in the room, and once you do so, you’re in for a treat – a nasty, old, crumpled little treat.
As soon as you enter the room, you’ll notice how the ground looks like a chess board with numerous black, and white squares on the ground. The Rolling Eyecube cinder block moves by flipping itself forward, backward, and on its sides – better get out of its way fast, and gain some distance if you don’t want your nickname to be 5 seconds in Heaven.
When the event starts, try to move to a corner, and wait for the rolling doofus to reach you. When it does, move quickly towards the opposite corner of the room. The Eyecube will try to annihilate your avatar from existence with its two primary attacks a) rolling towards you and squashing your little bones, and b) shooting a deadly laser every time it opens it eye.
They key to winning this fight is to pay attention when his eye opens because that’s when the cube is at its most vulnerable state. A quick arrow to the pupil and it’s dead.
This Titan Souls boss battle doesn’t have a predictable movement pattern. It basically goes wherever you go. The only pattern that I’ve noticed is that it opens its eye every time it moves four squares. I highly recommend you don’t try to pull back your arrow, because you’ll be rooted in place, and this Titan Souls menace moves hellafast. Try to walk around the titan, keeping a safe distance, and hit when you see an opening.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #3 Brainfreeze
I really like this Titan Souls event – it’s fairly easy, and challenging at the same time. To start the event, just fire your arrow at the large cube in the middle of the room. The brain, this titan’s weakness, is encapsulated inside the frozen cube. You need to melt it down, and hit the soft tissue in order to win the fight.
This boss battle has two phases.
In the first phase, this little soul eater will slide across the room trying to squash you until you’re just a pool of undistinguishable liquid. Manoeuvre yourself by rolling from it, and sprinting when you can. The key to destroying Brainfreeze is to wait for the flame in the middle of the room to pop up. Position yourself so you can first shoot the arrow through the flame, and then hitting the frozen cube.
Be warned, the flame will only light up for a few seconds, and each time after its first appearance it will stay lit for fewer seconds. Timing is of the essence.
After you manage to melt the ice cube, the Titan Souls event will start its phase two. Now you just need to hit it as quick as you can, because it doesn’t have any protection anymore. The titan will still try to kill you by jumping towards your position. It shouldn’t pose as a threat at this stage.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #4 Gol-lath
I can’t really call this a boss battle, I can’t even call it a battle because it’s so easy. You start the event by entering the stage – Goliath will be your last Titan Souls boss battle before you advance through the first sealed gate.
Goliath’s a stationary titan, and it will employ its fists to do its dark bidding. You’ll notice how one of the monster’s fists will try to smash you, and the other will protect the opening. For a brief moment, during the fight, the fists will change their roles, and that’s when you have to strike.
There are two ways in which you can win the battle. First off, you can remain with your body pressed on the southern wall, right were you you entered the arena, and move from left to right. This will make the titan to oscillate using his fists quicker, and you’ll have the opening you desire.
The next strategy involves a glitch of sorts. Once the door opens, remain rooted beneath it, and shoot your arrow straight towards the middle of the arena. Leave immediately as the door is shutting down, and move yourself to the left, or right, onto the stairs. Don’t pull your arrow back just yet.
Now, the fist will try to reach you, but it can’t, and the other will try to protect the opening as usual. Go right behind Goliath – don’t worry, you’ll be protected by a huge wall – and pull back your arrow when the opening occurs. Be patient, or you’ll get your arrow stuck, and you’ll have to restart Titan Souls.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #5 Avarice: Manifestation of Greed
In order to start this Titan Souls boss fight you need to go to the back of the room, at the top left corner, and shoot your arrow at the stack of coins. This will activate a mechanism which will make visible a hidden staircase at the bottom right corner. Go downstairs, and enter the room. There you’ll see a huge chest. Shoot at it to start the event.
Now, Avarice has a pattern that it uses every time you start a fight with it. The greedy chest has three moves that it will immediately use. The first one involves a shower of coins directed towards your position – move quickly out of their way, because they will squash you; then the chest will bounce two times towards your avatar and then disappear.
Avarice’s next move is to appear all of a sudden near your position, and perform a body slam attack – it will basically try to land itself on your head; then it will bounce two more times towards you just before disappearing once again.
The last movement pattern is where you need to really pay attention and strike. Avarice will appear, just like before, all of a sudden near you, but this time it will spit a single coin designated to end your life. Dodge it, and shoot your arrow straight into its mouth.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #6 Knight Elhanan
Once you enter the room go to the top of it, and on the right you’ll see an white arrow sticking from a pillar. Shoot it to start the event, but be warned, once you shoot it a lightning will strike rendering you incapacitated, or stunned, for a short time. You can completely avoid this by immediately rolling in any direction after shooting the arrow, but the time frame is super small, and you’ll probably fail a couple of times – this isn’t a game changer, and you can still fight the boss as it was intended even if the lightning hits you.
Now, as soon as you trigger the event, Knight Elhanan will shoot a white arrow that will bounce off the walls, and pillars of the room, and immediately after he will shoot three small arrows. He will start going towards their position to pick them up, leaving the white arrow last. This is the pattern that he repeats over and over again.
You can hide behind the six pillars in the room when Elhanan attacks. In order to win this Titan Souls boss battle you need to shoot at the white arrow. This will render the Titan vulnerable to your attacks – you’ll notice how his armour will be completely disintegrated. Shoot your arrow quickly and kill the Titan.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #7 Yeti
This will require a couple of practice runs. Don’t expect to win this Titan Souls battle after you’ve read the guide – sure, in theory you’ll know how to defeat him, but in practice, it will require you to move quickly in a certain direction. Here’s how to end his life.
As usual, to start the fight you must enter the room and shoot your arrow at the Yeti titan. As soon as you trigger the event, he will immediately throw four snowballs at you – you can avoid his attack by moving clockwise, or counter-clockwise. After his initial attack he will roll towards your position, crushing you in mere seconds if your caught in his trajectory.
The titan won’t stop until it hits something. This means that it will hit the wall, and debris will fall from the ceiling – sharp ice debris that will squish you if it lands on top of your head. Avoid it at all costs.
The Yeti will perform this pattern 3 times before landing with his buttocks at you – this is the time to shoot your arrow. Strike him in one of his cheeks and you’ll be crowned conqueror of the Yeti.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #8 Stratus
Just enter the zone, shoot at the mountain giant, and the fight will commence.
This Titan Souls battle is fairly easy – and I consider it to be the easiest of them all. Once the even is triggered the mountain giant’s head will rise up from the ground exposing his teeth – at the same time, a tower of sorts will also raise from the ground and it will shoot a freezing ray towards you. Position yourself so the freezing ray hits one of Stratus’ teeth.
After that, just wait for the giant to rise again from the beneath the ground and shoot where the tooth is missing.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #9 Onyxia
When you enter the huge room, swim towards the middle of it. There’s a gong looking thing there. You need to shoot it in order for the event to be triggered.
Once the Titan Souls boss fight starts the serpent titan will jump to your location. This battle is based on how you choose your strategy, rather than how you quickly manoeuvre yourself. Onyxia will jump from beneath the water straight onto your location. It’s wise that just before she does so, you stay in the water, and then move to a platform – so the serpent titan doesn’t destroy all of your icebergs.
After the serpent titan goes once again underwater, move quickly to a platform because Onyxia will electrify that big puddle. That’s the jest of it really. She’ll do this over and over again.
The key to winning this fight is to strike at her tail when she submerges – point your arrow, and fire at that purple’ish thing.
Onyxia I dub the the soul surfer!
The Titan Souls PS4 version has some stunning graphics – it’s an eye-candy fight; visually it’s stunning, and you’ll be in love with this Titan Souls boss fight. Console gamers don’t have anything to worry regarding performance, or graphics issues, because the Playstation version rivals in every way with the Titan Souls PC one – Devolver Digital really outdid themselves, and hopefully it’s something that we can get accustomed to.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #10 Obello
Known as the Mushroom King, once you start the Obello event be on your toes and quickly sprint, and roll. The Mushroom King doesn’t like company, so it will try to jump on top of you. Each time the mushroom will touch the ground it will launch 4 projectiles – they aren’t heat seeking, so don’t worry, they won’t follow you; but they will pose as a major problem, because the firing rate is really fast.
Don’t touch the solid spores, because you’ll immediately die. You can go through their trails, and you’ll see some visual cues indicating that you have succumbed to their effects – no damage; the screen will change colours.
Wait for the mushroom to turn itself towards you, and shoot at its stalk – you’ll easily notice where you have to shoot at, because it’s marked with a red’ish colour.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #11 Vinethesis
Now this is my favourite Titan Souls battle. For some reason I just love the colours in this fight, and the fact that it’s so engaging!
After you trigger the event, you need to rapidly move in the direction its vines move – so you don’t get caught under them and be dead in a matter of seconds.
I highly recommend you take your time and shoot his vines off, because it will make your fight a lot easier. You can destroy them only when they are on the ground – they don’t take damage when their swirling in the air. Be warned, that even though you shot the vines, and they appear dead on the ground, they will still output damage, so avoid them at all costs.
Each time Vinethesis breaths in, and exhales it will set loose a purple cloud. It won’t kill you if you stay a few seconds inside it, but it will eventually lead to your death – it’s toxic.
To win the boss fight, you need to shoot an arrow in the titan’s mouth when it inhales – you can get up close if you want; it won’t suck you in. After you landed your shot, the layer protecting her eye will fall. Shoot it quickly and kill the titan.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #12 Mol-Qayin
Also known as the lava blob. This Titan Souls fight involves a little bit of patience, and ingenuity.
As soon as the event starts, you’ll notice that Mol-Qayin sprays fire towards you, and after that it shoots a giant bomb – which can be avoided easily.
Oh, did I tell you that the titan also jumps around aiming to kill your avatar? Yes, yes it does.
The strategy here is to shoot an arrow straight into Mol-Qayin’s mouth, and pull it back in order to position the titan near a bomb. You see, if a bomb is sprayed with fire it will explode, and it will deal damage. You won’t kill the titan just by making a bomb explode near it, but Mol-Qayin will enter a vulnerable state while trying to reconstruct itself – this is the time to strike and end its existence.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #13 Rol-Qayin
Rol-Qayin moves stupid fast so once you start the event, quickly roll out of its way. There isn’t much to say really. You need to be patient and find the perfect time to shoot your arrow. That perfect time is when the Titan rolls and its eye is visible – position yourself paralel with Rol-Qayin and shoot to kill.
It isn’t the hardest Titan Souls boss fight, but it isn’t the easiest either. It’s annoying because you have to make Rol-Qayin roll on the side where his eye isn’t.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #14 Gol-Qayin
This Titan Souls battle will involve a little bit of creativity. You see, once you start the battle, the titan will start throwing his fists – which are basically maces; and it will also move towards your position. On the ground there are fissures that will randomly spurt out a hot gas – don’t walk on them, or you’ll die.
Manoeuvre yourself between them, and at the same time be careful in avoiding Gol-Qayin. He will eventually start to spin like a mad man, but it won’t last long. He will get tired really soon, and then is your time to attack.
Go to his backside and shoot your arrow.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #15 Gol-Hevel
This Aztec inspired Titan Souls plaque of a monster is a bit of a doozy. At first I didn’t quite understood how to kill it – you can clearly see that its behind is uncovered, and there’s the place to attack, but how? It moves so fast, and everywhere.
And then it hit me. It moves fast, and everywhere so I should move in a circle and lay an arrow near a wall. But it isn’t that easy. You see, Gol-Hevel will try to avoid you, because he doesn’t like the touch of humans, or the smell – can’t say that he stands the sight of us also; and he will attack by firing 6 projectiles.
You can dance between them, and leave your arrow near a wall – pull it towards you when Gol-Hevel has its back to it.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #16 The Elder
This isn’t a Titan Souls boss fight. I don’t mean that it’s easy, I really mean that it shouldn’t be classified as a fight, but Devolver Digital says so, and we must conform I guess.
The Elder is just a huge statue that you have to climb, and at top there’s a door that has a mural of an eye on it. Shoot it and you can count one more titan down.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #17 Gol-Set
This Titan Souls boss battle is really anti-climactic. The event starts with this awesome, and epic soundtrack, and it makes you think that you’ve just encountered the devil itself, but no, it’s just your ordinary statue.
In order to win the fight, you need to activate a mechanism that will open Gol-Set’s heart socket. To do so, you need to avoid the flying fists that are being thrown at you by the titan – but avoid them by positioning yourself on the trigger platforms on the ground. Let the titan pummel the platforms – there are only 2 – and its heart socket will open.
Once Gol-Set is vulnerable shoot an arrow directly into the opening and break his heart!
Titan Souls Boss Fight #18 The Soul
It’s an easy kill if you don’t screw things up at the beginning, so pay attention and this Titan Souls boss fight will end in less than 30 seconds.
The Soul is basically your doppelgänger. It shoots an arrow just like you, only faster, and its white arrow will bounce off the walls – something that you’ve encountered earlier while battling the Knight Elhanan. But get this. When it shoots the arrow, it also shoots four homing projectiles – they will follow you around for a short period of time, before disappearing.
The Soul will attempt to pull back your arrow, and use it against you so don’t let it do so!
It’s pattern is fairly simple. It shoots the bouncy arrow, and it emits four homing projectiles. So when is the time to kill it then?
Be patient young grasshopper. The time when the titan is at its utmost vulnerable state is when it warps himself upwards – you have a limited time frame, so shoot the titan as soon as possible.
If you miss this opportunity, the fiend will grow erratic, move quicker, and attack faster – it will lead to your untimely demise.
Titan Souls Boss Fight #19 The Truth
This is actually the last Titan Souls boss. It’s a hidden event, and the gate towards the boss fight will only open after you’ve defeated all of the 18 titans in the game.
You can enter the area by going upwards after defeating The Souls.
This video tutorial explains it best – how to manoeuvre, and when to act. It’s a perfect way to end our Titan Souls guide to the boss fights. Good luck and have fun!
